DEATH OF MATTHEW BERRY 1908
Matthew Berry, of Main Street West, died very suddenly at his home on Sunday morning at the ripe old age of 74 years. The deceased got up as usual on Sunday morning about six o’clock and was choring around as he usually did. Shortly afterward he went to lie down. When his wife went into the room to inquire if he wanted anything she discovered that life had taken its flight. Mr. Berry was born near Brockville and followed the occupation of cheese maker for some years. He then moved to Buffalo, where he and his family lived for about twenty years. About ten years ago he removed to Welland where he has since resided.
A wife and two daughters- Mrs. L. Racher of town and Mrs. L. Springer of Buffalo- are left to mourn the taking away of a kind husband and father.
The funeral took place from the family residence yesterday afternoon at 2.30 o’clock to Fonthill cemetery. The services were conducted by the Rev. W.H. Swayze at the house and grave.
